Like I said in their engagement session blog post (check it out here!), these two have pretty much the most perfect love story. They’ve been friends since grade school, are high school sweethearts, are pretty much the happiest parents that you’ve ever seen to their adorable little man, and are best friends above everything else.
Dress: David’s Bridal
Flowers: Flemington Floral
Caterer: John and Andrew
How gorgeous was Courtney’s wedding day attire? The dress was so elegant – classic lace with a gorgeous pale brown sash. I am seriously in love with her shoes. And Flemington Floral did such a beautiful job with her bouquet!!
Erik was so excited to see his beautiful bride and adorable son – they’re so used to spending all of their free time together, I think it was a challenge for them to be apart for these few hours while they all got ready!
I love it when there is a moving story behind wedding day details. Courtney’s engagement ring had been Erik’s mother’s ring, and Courtney’s wedding band had belonged to her great grandmother. Erik’s wedding band had belonged to his late father, so we took a few photos of it on a clock that had meant a lot to his dad.
After some craziness in the morning, Courtney’s son, mom, and best friend, Heather, were there to help her finish getting ready. A car overturned in front of the driveway to the park, trapping Heather, their friend Carla, and Courtney’s brother there after they dropped off a few things for the wedding, and yet Courtney remained so amazingly calm and composed. Her ‘it is what it is’ attitude helped us quickly get her getting ready shots and bridal portraits and still make it to her first look with Erik on time! Isn’t she just gorgeous?!
If you can’t tell, Erik is pretty head over heels for Courtney :) Courtney and Erik grew up five houses apart from each other. We did their First Look at the road where Courtney and Erik met up with each other in high school, halfway between their homes, and where they now go for walks with their little man and spunky pup, Jade.
I just love the homemade details of Erik and Courtney’s rustic wedding!
“Today, Our Dreams Come True” <3
Sadly, Erik’s father passed away a few years ago, and I can imagine how hard the day must have been for them without him there. In her speech, Erik’s mom said how proud he would have been of Erik as a husband and as a father, and it brought everyone in the room to tears. But I think that a part of them all knew that he was there with them, at least in spirit. This gave me an idea for their family portrait, so with Courtney’s help, we scanned a few images of Erik’s dad from their old family albums and I Photoshopped him into a picture of the family on their wedding day. I took the picture from probably one of the first pictures of their new family after Erik was born – Erik’s dad holding onto his mother’s arm as she held baby Erik, beaming with such pride and joy for his son. I like to imagine that was right where his dad was the whole day, smiling away, just as proud.
I think that it’s pretty safe to say that everyone, including myself, had an absolute blast at this wedding. The food was delicious, the music by Rob at Bass DJ was electric, the venue was perfect, and the guests were nothing short of a great time. All around perfect wedding! Congratulations, Courtney and Erik!!
