This is officially my first real blog! Woot woot! I’ve been thinking about blogging for a year now, but have always just been too nervous that people will think that I’m a weirdo or a narcissist, or worse, a narcissistic weirdo. And let’s be honest, there are a bajillion blogs out there. Everyone nowadays seems to think that the rest of the world wants to read their thoughts and about what they ate for lunch. I’m fairly confident that the world does not, in fact, want to read about all of those things from me, but you know what? I like to write and I really like taking pictures, so I’m finally going to jump on the blogging bandwagon. YOLO, right?
I did an awesome session swap with a fellow photographer in Flemington, New Jersey a few weeks ago. I had done family photos for them right around the time when we both found out that we were pregnant, so naturally we had to do maternity pictures for each other. Now, I’m a bit of a control freak, so I don’t really do session swaps too often. I think that most photographers are probably like that though – we have a particular style that we do and we love, and we just really want to be able to clone ourselves and do our own pictures. That is probably why my tripod gets so much use (thank goodness I have a very patient husband who tolerates me saying, ‘Okay, just one more, I just have to tilt my head a little more to the right and you need to move your arm half an inch lower’… at least twenty times). So I have to really like someone’s style to do a session swap with them. I am sooo glad that I did – not only did she capture images of my baby bump that I wouldn’t have been able to get (or at least not until the 30th try) with a tripod and remote trigger, but they are absolutely beautiful! Heather was such a pleasure to work with, both as a photographer and as the subject. And look how gorgeous she looks with her own baby bump! She is due a little over a week before me – with a little boy! – and he is her third child, so she has been a godsend reassuring me and giving me advice throughout this pregnancy.
So without further adieu, here are my favorites from Heather’s maternity session!
